About Basement Help Network
Basement Help Network is an independent referral service. We help homeowners planning basement finishing get in touch with one local contractor, and we publish plain, sourced guides to local permits, codes and costs.
What we do
When you send a request through our short form, we pass it to one independent basement finishing contractor who serves your area. That company contacts you, looks at your home if you want a bid, and quotes and performs any work. You deal with them directly.
What we don't do
- We don't do basement finishing work ourselves.
- We aren't a government agency, utility or building department, and we are not affiliated with any of them.
- We don't rank or review companies.
How we make money
Partner contractors pay us for the requests we send them. That's what keeps the service free for homeowners. Each area has one partner, so we don't sell your request to several companies.
Our partner contractors
We only refer to companies that hold the licenses or registrations their city and state require for the work, and carry insurance. Because we refer you to one company, you won't see every option here; you're always free to get more bids.
How we write our guides
Every figure on our city pages comes from a cited source, such as a building department handout, a published fee schedule, a utility's rebate terms, a federal agency or Census data. National cost ranges are labeled as national. Where a city doesn't publish a number, we say so. If you spot an error, please tell us.
